Every now and then, a video game gets made that changes the landscape. If we think back in history when we started looking at games differently, titles like Call of Duty, Uncharted, God of War set a precendent to where future titles began to copy their successful formula. Marvel's Spider-Man has become of those titles and has risen the bar for video game development.
This title not only does an exceptional job of story telling, but it weaves in a variety of game mechanics for a delicious experience. It's not even about one particular thing for Spider-Man, it's about ALL the things combined. It definitely sets a precedent, but I doubt it's going to be easy to copy.
This is a passion project.
If Insomniac were to be hired to create another "super hero" game, something tells me they're going to have trouble replicating their success of Spider-Man. Attention to the smallest of detail like recording TWO sets of voices depending on activity doesn't happen just because you're getting a massive paycheck.
So for those of you wondering if we recorded #spidermanps4 open-world Spidey dialogue twice-- yes, we did. One "resting" take, one "exerted" take. Programmers exposed a variable to Wwise allowing the game to switch between dialogue assets, depending on the player state.

It happens because you love what you're doing and the love is infectious, like a radioactive spider. My reaction after I finished the game:

I was speechless. This game is near perfection in so many ways, that it's hard to articulate. I'm not exaggerating and I'm not fanboying, this game is legit. Get it.
