Justin.TV/Twitch.TV HD Streaming FAQ: Updated 09/01/2012 Here is a list of frequently asked questions related to my streaming setup on justin.tv. I'll try to update this frequently. Please refer individuals to this thread if the question is posed about my setup. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: Your PC is BEAST! What are your specs?!? Manufacturer: Self built CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (OC'd to 4.2Ghz) Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory OS: Microsoft(R) Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti Superclocked 1GB 16X PCI Express Keyboard: Das Keyboard Professional Mice: Logitech G5 / Razer Naga Epic Q: How do you stream your PC games? Why is it so smooth meng?!? As of 09/01/2012, I am utilizing XSplit to stream my PC games. Here are my settings: I'm streaming at 1280x720 at 60fps Q: What's your internet connection speed? I'm paying a pretty penny for it, but I think it's worth it. Q: How do you stream Game Chat With Bwana? Is it the same as your PC streaming? No it isn't. To stream my face with visual effects and transitions, I utilize a powerful streaming package called Wirecast. Wirecast allows me to show multiple inputs with various title effects, transitions, and configurations. It has tight integration with Justin.TV as well as other networks such as livestream and Ustream. Q: I've seen you stream your PS3 and Xbox 360 before, what do you use for that? I use Wirecast to stream my consoles as well. Wirecast is a powerful solution and I recommend it for a majority of uses. Unfortunately, the desktop capturing program, Desktop Presenter, does not perform well for PC gaming. Q: What hardware do you use to do all this? Aside from a fairly powerful PC, I use a Blackmagic Intensity Pro to capture HD inputs from my Canon HV20 camcorder and from my Xbox 360 and PS3. I also use a Microsoft Lifecam Cinema HD as an alternate low budget HD capture source for other shots. For audio, I use a Motu Ultralite Firewire mixer which is connected to my Macbook Pro. The audio is fed through my PC's line-in for streaming. Q: How do you record your videos and post them to Youtube, etc? I utilize TwitchTV's highlighting system to grab segments of live video. TTV records everything you stream, so it's convenient to find the epic parts of a live stream, highlight them, and click the "Upload to Youtube" button. If you haven't, you should sign up for a Twitch.TV account today.
